My point is that RATL has now become the company that its
leaders envisioned some years ago. By buying other companies very aggressively, and in the last year consolidating the companies and their products. I don't expect any dramatical transitions, I just believe they will grow at least in par with their market which is growing rapidly and is dominated by RATL (i.e. a typical "Gorilla Pattern"). The transition is really taking place among the customers, with more and more of professional software development going from 'programming' to an 'industrial development process' supported by tools.

Naturally the technology will advance, and there are many good competitors out there. But RATL has also acquired a lot of talented people, capable of both envisioning new technology and in implementing it.

They might start buying some companies again, though not as aggressively as before. I am sure they'll acquire ObjecTime (embedded/real-time market) at some point soon, and they might
like to buy some services companies too.

Sorry, I'll pass on that one. I would probably annoy RATL by
making any statements about that. I shouldn't have mentioned it in
my post - my mistake. You are right, it's actually six gurus though
I believe there will only by two of them at each session.

Agreed. Even with some negative surprises I don't think it'll go
back into teens again.

If I got it right, they haven't sold yet ? One speculation could be
that they have filed the plans to sell because they 'believe'
earnings will be good and that they plan to sell in the price
upswing after earnings (which might be the time to sell if you
want out).

Best,

/Hans-Erik

P.S. I guess I sound very bullish on RATL right now. I promise I'll try and write something critical about RATL soon :-).

<< If I didn't own it, I probably wouldn't buy it right now. >> Agree on this one. RATL is a perfect hold right now. It was a perfect buy one year ago at 1/2 the current price.
