How odd that you would bring up the Nazis- believers in the Greater Glory of Germany. They have much more in common with Christians than the "bashers of Christianity" do. Who exactly are the bashers of Christianity? They must be a pretty small crew- are they Unitarians? I am joining the Unitarian church I think (I know, I know, "Unitarian Church" is an oxymoron). But looking around the world for "Christian Bashers" I am wondering where to start. England has a National Church (I believe the C of E considers itself Christian- though you may not)- many other countries are Christian countries- most of Latin America can be considered Catholic(are they Christian?). Of course the Muslims are going to bash the Christians, but I don't see them taking control. The Hindus don't generally bash Christians but they won't be happy with the Muslims in the new world order. And I have no idea how the Buddhists will feel- they aren't really the type to seek World Domination. Shintoism can be a problem (or at least it has been in the past) but is fairly well confined geographically.

Perhaps you mean the Russians and the Chinese? The Russians used to be orthodox Catholics- many still are. I believe the church is growing in Russia. I think even the Chinese are becoming interested in Christianity.

I cannot believe you would compare the "anti- Christian" slant now with what faced the JEws during WWII. Every store this Christmas was full of Angels, and Creches, and all that is CHRISTmas. Every card store has boxes and boxes of Christian religious cards (I know this for sure because I buy them for my Aunts who are all Southern Baptists- and like to recieve Christmas cards as they wait for the Second Coming). All stores have religious themed ornaments (including Hallmark). Many lawns have manger scenes in their front yards. Christmas paraphanalia is everywhere. I do not believe Hannukkah has EVER had the same airplay as the Chistian Holiday, not now, not ever- and certainly not in the period around WWII when Jews were still regarded with much suspicion in this country by good WASPs.

Bob,

I agree that there is some license taken by the popular media to slant against christians, white men, etc. but to say it's just like pre WW2 years is a stretch, paranoid maybe. We're a long way from rounding them up and gassing 'em. I don't see christians being blamed for all that's wrong with the country. I think we all can be grateful that plenty of races and creeds are still pointing fingers at each other for their particular ax grind. Wonderful isn't it.
I remember in parochial school the whining about the poor christians always being picked on. We never studied the Inquisition for some reason though. I realize that's a Roman Catholic thing but nonetheless...
As an economic conservative and social libertarian I don't care for the coopting of the thus far only viable alternative to the Democrats by the so-called christian right which seems to focus on the social issues thereby scuttling any hope of the economically conservative policies which I'm interested in from taking hold. I don't care if someone wants to gamble, take drugs, bunghole their friends and yes, as disagreeable as it is, abort their fetus'. Well, I care about the last, but I don't see how the government can legitamitely claim first rights.
I don't know why I bring this all up. It seemed relevant at the time. Just no more whining!

Bruce

Bob,

You state: "There is no undiscovered continent to run to and escape the oppression."

My dear sir, you overlook the obvious... Continents? Nay, sir, NAY... PLANETS!

Saturday our local public high school is having 8 straight hours of gospel singing. One of the groups singing the gospel are 5 members of our local police force. Our town is only 6000 people. They represent about half of the force. I suppose you would consider it Christian bashing if I complained about using tax my dollars to promote the Christian gospel. You see, in Texas they consider the Supreme Court a bunch of liberals that they don't need to listen to.

I haven't heard your comment on the abortionist hit list put out by your Christian brethren, btw.
