In the from part of this responce you will see my name. Click on my name and read my recent posts to SGI and Nine threats. But you have to read carefully. You concluded I said that nine could survive without SGI, I cannot come to a rational basis for your conclusion based upon what I said. To me the answer to the following questions are yes. Have you worked with every SGI workstation over the past several years? Have you worked on every major brand of unix workstation and comercial flavor of unix for the past several years? Have you used dual headed unix systems for the last several years? Have you used all major linux distributions for the last several years? Have you worked with the beta version of XIG openGL for the number nine revolution four card and seen performance as good as anything available from SGI. Nine has a high end high margin product to sell in the pc market place niche where their card have been for the last several years. Their past sucky position came about as CPU power coupled with cheap cards obsoleted the high end cards they lived on. They would have a difficult time selling into low end. Do they know how? But the digital card used with the flat panel is a natural fit and positions nine for a lead in the evolution of standard monitors to digital interfaces. Sgi may fail in numbers of NT workstations and is losing unix workstation sales. SGI does not know how to sell into the PC market place. Revenues from flat panels will be helpful but ?? The price of a companies stock depends on only one thing. The perception of revenue rising to lower PE. What forces in the market place cause ones perception. Monies on nine bottom line will be amplified in financial bottom line to SGI. 2.5 million share at 30 a share is????????????????????? You just got to connect the dots.
