Forecast for household electric appliances in 1999
VCD player, air conditioner and computer are expected to be the best sellers among the household electric appliances in Chinese cities in 1999, according to a survey made recently by a research institute under the State Planning Development Commission on consumers' intentiion of buying goods next year.
The survey shows that 30.11 percent of the respondents intend to buy VCD player, 29.91 percent to buy air conditioner and 26.74 percent to buy computer.

Demand for Electronic Elements and Devices to Close to 200 billion Units
The demand for electronic elements and devices will linger around 192 billion units on the Chinese market in 1999, predicted experts with MII.
Of the total, the demand for capacitors will be 80.2 billion units; resistors and potentiometers, 74 billion units; various connectors, 13.5 billion units; inductors, transformers and magnetic devices, 16.5 billion units; electroacoustic devices, 700 million units; relays, 200 million units; and frequency elements, 2.6 billion units.
China now is known as tthe world largest producer an assembler of consumer electronics products. Its production of TV, radio-recorder, VCD player, telephone, electronic clock and watch, computer, radio, refrigerator and air conditioner ranks first among in the world. Moreover, it is also the major producer of floppy disc drive, hard disc drive, monitor, computer board and mouse. These products will require nearly 200 billion units of electronic elements and devices.
