This just gives credibility to the Bin Ladens, etc. and everything that they accuse the West of

I'm sorry, but nothing will give credibility to Bin Laden except perhaps victory on his part.

Until then he is merely a terrorist to some, a freedom fighter to others, and a man with a large target painted upon him stuck in Afghanistan.

Personally, I'm surprised that they waited until 1996 to use scanning equipment. I would have figured that there would have been listening devices ringing the entire countryside, as well as EC-130/135's, a tap on critical communications cables, and spysats sucking in anything else that they might have missed.

To me this is a non-issue no matter whatever broo-haha is made out of it. Besides the US has already screwed up the situation through their truncated bombing during the impeachment hearings.

And remember... these boys at Ft. Meade may be playing a few games of their own, with rules only they know.

Saddam had no choice but to co-operate or face the continuation of where we left off at the end of Desert Storm. The problem is we waited too many years and memories have faded of his invasion of Kuwait and threats to the regions prosperity (ie: oil..)

I'm sure the fact that they had documented evidence that the Iraqis were tipping off their folks at the targeted inspection sites is fair play on their part.

Sorry, but I'm tired of cutting the Hussein regime slack. About as tired as I am seeing US foreign policy being directed by the peccadilloes of its president. I'm tired of having the US accused of starving his people, while his republican guards are fed steak every day.

Next time around, we'll just ask Saddam politely, "May we inspect your WOMD sites, please??

With sugar on top??

Regards,

Ron
