Mephisto, to many people the idea of a computer as a computer is scary but that good-old familiar TV as a computer is almost non-threatening. It is also a lot cheaper and will be a good first step for people who can't imagine ever wanting to do anything but send and receive e-mail or surf the web.

I met someone at a party who was given one of those TV internet things two Christmas' ago [not sure what they are called] by her son who is in the Army. He got it for her so they could send e-mail to each other. The contraption did not cost that much and the woman is happy--she has zero interest in buying a computer, likes using her TV.

Even though PC prices have fallen, if one takes the *monitor* into account, the price rises. A half way decent 17" monitor costs more than a nice 20" (and many 25") color TVs today. The sound in many TVs is pretty darn good.

I don't think I would want one, but I do see a market for computer TV. Who knows, the way things are going, I might even be a customer down the line.

Regards,

Lynn
