** OT **

Gotta a dividend technical question one of you may be able to answer.

A co anounces that they are going to pay out a special dividend to persons who own a stock two days after the anouncement.

I buy the stock telling the broker that I'm buying because of the dividend.

Afterward I'm told that I don't get the dividend because of settlement date.

Am I screwed or do they owe me the dividend?

Gersh

Judy, thanks for the info on WIND.. a little late getting back to you, things have been hectic in the real world. I have some guests from San Francisco area. Its obvious from their great stories I need to revisit all of the west coast on a leisurly basis again.

The consensus seems to be for a mid month pullback with the timing being just after this Jan expiration. I've nailed IBM with puts every time its hit 192, just hoping it doesn't announce a split the next time its up there.

Millenium y2k solutions are gravitating to buying new systems instead of repairing legacy systems, so this year should continue strong and accelerate into summer.

Judy,

I gotcha.. Bad info from any source that one might trade on isnt good for the reputation of a firm. Lucky that you havent been trading cmgi on that basis. You have been a holder since the last drop.. I remember and that is why you are who you are.

12 years is a long time for being at FIDO, there are alot of good things and in the overall analysis I agree with your statement.

I am not impressed with the website tools though. I know you dont use them (or so it seems) but for the size of the firm, they need a better site that has more tools.

I am looking for what is next, what might be the upcomming prudent play. There is going to be another sector be in.. Other than technology and internets.
