Red,
The program I tried was a free demo first version of Dragon Naturally Speaking. It was not a fair test of the technology due to my poor sound board.

The first sound board I had was part of the modum. I blew the modem out and replaced it with a U.S. Robotics Voice Faxmodem. The software tells me I have a poor microphone. I bought a Labtec head set and microphone. The software still tells me I have a poor microphone. I played around with the software some just to see what it would do. I determined the sound board is OK but maybe not high quality. Plays CDs OK.

Dragon has a third version of the software out. I observed a demo at CompUSA one afternoon and talked with the demo people. That version is much better then what I was messing around with. If I develop a need for it, I will install a good sound board, use the head set, and buy the latest version of Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Hope this helps.
