Are there any Ames' stores near where you live, Mephisto? If there are, go into their electronics department and look at the end of the VCR row (under the TVs). You'll find them there. I don't know about Wal-Mart or Big K (K-Mart) because I have not been in either for ages [inconvenient compared to Ames].

I like to go in Ames' category stores from time to time and see what they are selling [other than PCs] as an indicator of what middle America wants. The Best Buys and Circuit City might offer the latest trend in electronics, but these other stores delay until something becomes an established middle-America (and a bit below) 'need.'
