ANAND'S POOR BENCHMARKING

Well, Anand's gaming benchmarks for the K6-2 (and, almost necessarily, the K6-3) remain incorrect.

206.132.42.114

His benchmarks are just WRONG. He claims he's using 3DNow, but I'm guessing he's not.

Here's the letter I sent to him a couple weeks ago (received no response):

_________
Anand,

I just ran demo1.dm2 timedemo at 800 x 600 (the resolution you used in
part one of the K6-3 article--I assume you used this resolution in the
second half of the article because it didn't say otherwise) on my K6-2
392 MHz (3.5 x 112 MHz) with a TNT (Creative Labs) card, 96 MB SDRAM. I
got a score of 43.9 fps. I ran it a second time to double check and got
44.9 fps. All this was with 3DNow enabled.

You show a K6-2 400 MHz getting a score of 30.8, and the K6-3 450 MHz
with a score of 44.9.

Something is amiss. Were you running the tests without 3DNow enabled?
Were you running at a higher resolution? If so, I don't think your
article made it quite clear.

Anand is now claiming to get only 15.5 fps in crusher.dm2 with a K6-2 400 MHz system at 800x600 resolution. MY COMPUTER (K6-2 392 MHz, 112 MHz FSB, 96 MB SDRAM) GIVES ME ABOUT 23 FPS IN CRUSHER AT 1024X768!!!

The kid needs to run his benchmarks again, because something just ain't right.
