diana promises Not to make a pest of herself here, but....

Hi Hans-Erik!

"...If I got it right, they haven't sold yet? ..."

Just for clarity's sake:

Paul Levy (as one important example) sold 200,000 shares in November:
biz.yahoo.com
(he had about 350,000 shares left at that point.)

Form 4's must be filed with the SEC by the 10th of the month following the transaction. So December's Insider transactions will be known soon.

regards,

diana

Hans,
We've "known" each other for awhile now, and as usual, I think we are in fundamental agreement- maybe coming from a slightly different perspective. Remember, my point was not whether I liked the company now, my point was whether I would add to my position or recommend to our friend Diana that she add right now. So with that as the central premise for my original point...

>>"My point is that RATL has now become the company that its
leaders envisioned some years ago. By buying other companies very aggressively,"<<

I think that is exactly the point I was making. They have achieved what they set out to achieve just over 2 years ago. What I trying to say back to you was I believed (invested) in that vision at that point in time-- I have been rewarded, you won't hear complaint #1 from this camper.

However, what I am most interested in is to see what they are looking to achieve 2 years from now. Where is the company going? What is the next hurdle for this company? If they say they are satisfied with where they are right now and will continue to execute in this space, I will lighten my portfolio of some RATL shares- not all, but some. No technology company is safe by executing in their current market for the long term. RATL has too great of an install base and sales/marketing force to not expand their reach. Most leading tech companies do leverage their install base. RATL has, correctly-IMO, stayed the course in consolidating their mergers. What I want to see is what now? What is the RATL we will know in 2002? That is what I need to know before I continue to buy shares.

>>They might start buying some companies again, though not as aggressively as before. I am sure they'll acquire ObjecTime (embedded/real-time market) at some point soon, and they might
like to buy some services companies too.<<

As for ObjectTime, I think there might be a timeframe associated with that deal. As for service companies, that is exactly the type of information I want to know. They talk about this symposium on the best practices for software development. What is more valuable to the company? A one day syposium or a 6 month consulting engagement at a avg. billable rate of $250/hour with a five person team? They have the tools, they have the expertise- are they going into consulting? Something very interesting to understand, IMO.

As for your speculations made and not made (2 gurus at each), you are dead-on with both.

As for the insider selling, I have to go with Diana, although she did dump this too early. :^) They definitely did sell and it makes me very nervous for the next couple of days...
