~~OT~~ P & F, MDA, and Knute Rockne IMHO Successful Systems Are hard to find and harder to prove. Analysis is futile with out historical backdrop. And hero's are quickly forgotten. Three statements sad (tear) and true. To see the upside look at them in reverse. True hero's are people who not only have had success come to them, but have given back inspiration and motivation. By stepping back and looking at these successes, we gain the tools and measurements needed to preform future analysis. With discipline, we can take this tools and measurements and develop systems that are successful and provable. Simple three box reversal logic. :-) The other analogy I was thinking of regarding Knute Rockne and MDA is too large for SI or this thread because he was so much larger than life. To try and keep it simple, Rockne was a decent man that treated others with respect. Because of his discipline and passion he was able to motivate and get the maximum potential from all he touched. He did not invent the forward pass and the shift, but he implemented them with stunning success. May he never be forgotten or his lessons lost. By the by, the Rockne movie was Ronald Reagan as the gipper, and I think Hugh O'Brian as the Knute. Tom Dorsey's use of the football analogy in P & F Charting is heroic. It makes MDA understandable to anyone. He has used his success to give back tools to allow us to compete in a seemingly impossibly uneven playing field. He did not invent P & F or the 3 box reversal, but he has successfully implemented and shared it. The same can be said about you LG, or Donald, Hiam, the James's on this thread and elsewhere in and out of SI. The act of giving back will ensure your future successes as well as motivation and direction to others. MDA gets impossible to implement because in the day to day we get too close. For me, equating MDA to a football game helps keep things in perspective and keeps it simple. I wish I had the TA skills and tools you all have. With 5 kids and all the ordinary demands of life in general, I am truly thankful there is simple tool like P & F that allows me to keep perspective and invest and trade with confidence.
