As I recall, the announcement usually occurs at about
120. Stock drives up to 140ish before actually split.

FYI, TXN stock split recent history.

6/12/87 - (3:1) 174 to 57 , prior high $203
8/18/95 - (2:1) 159 to 74 , prior high $162
11/21/97 - (2:1) 104 to 50 , prior high $140

Don't know when the split announcement was, relative to the high and actual split date. The (to xx) price is the following monday close. I don't think you can assume a split based on a price range. Lots of other factors, market conditions, management philosophy.
