Just wondering have you tried to talk on a regular phone @ the same time someone was talking? kind of hard that way as well...My bone is a small one...I have a MAC and can't even try the the phone as they do not support MAC's platform.

However, IDT is not just NET2Phone, they are Much more as you will learn very shortly imho.

cheers

>>>>>You have to hold the "talk" button when you want to talk, you and the other end can't talk at the same time (like a walkie-talkie). <<<<<

You are only able to do half-duplex communications probably because you don't have a full-duplex soundcard.

net2phone.com
Net2Phone enables any Internet user with a sound-equipped PC to initiate calls from a computer and transmit them over the Internet to Net2Phone's telephone switches. These switches automatically relay the call to its final destination -- any telephone. The result is real time, uninterrupted, full duplex voice communication between two parties.

What are Net2Phone's System Requirements:
For Version 9.0
Windows 95, 98, Pentium class machine 8 Meg RAM, 28.8 Modem, PPP Internet, Sound Card, Microphone, Speakers (For full duplex capabilities you will need a full duplex soundcard).

>>>>>the quality is way inferior to regular phone<<<<<

net2phone.com
What is the quality of Net2Phone?
Net2Phone offers True Phone Quality (TPQ), virtually indistinguishable from traditional telephones. The overall quality will vary based upon your Internet connection + your ISP's connection speed.

Will Net2Phone work with a connection other than 28.8?
Generally, the faster your connection, the better the quality of your Net2Phone call.

Hope this helps,
Ron

>>>>>The big 3 (ATT, MCI, Sprint) all have promotions regularly with 5 cents/min. With this experience, I don't think the netphone biz will take off.<<<<<

Most of the promotions by ATT, MCI, and Sprint are limited to certain time slots like Sundays only (they are not 24/7) or there are monthly minimums and/or monthly surcharges that are added to the bottom line. The "devil is in the details" and the hidden charges with ATT, MCI, and Sprint are rampant, in my opinion.

IDT, thankfully, doesn't appear to play the hidden charge game.

net2phone.com
Are there any hidden costs or additional charges?
No. There are absolutely no extra costs. The only charges to your account are the per minute charges for the country to which you are calling.

Regards,
Ron

Before to be long with IDTC, I did some tests with Net2Phone as well. I am in California and called my mother in France using Net2Phone. My modem connection is at 56Kbps. The connection was not perfect but very acceptable. The voice was very clear, I was actually very surprised by the quality. And 10 cents/minute to call in Western Europe (i.e. France, Germany, UK), it is dirt cheap !

I strongly believe that IDTC will succeed with this product (Net2Phone and Net2Fax). I will definitely use this product in the future to call oversea using Net2Phone (bye-bye AT&T, MCI and 10-10-321 !!!). I am now a customer and a shareholder !

Well you are very wrong, it's just like a regular call.

If you are short, just buy back your shares.

pass pass,

Message 7190981

I'm an American living in London. The above message makes a good point concerning Internet telephony. The international call market is humongous. It will be growing by leaps and bounds during the next several years as the general population becomes more computerized and mobile.

Cheers,
Bond
