Today, being Sunday, S3 has an add in the local paper(San Jose Mercury News)employment section. It is a large 1/4 add. I usually look for their adds for employment to see if in fact they are growing and expanding. They are looking for: Place & Route Engineers, Senior MTS, Verification Engineers, Design Manager,Device Driver Engineers, Bios MAnager, Bios Engineers, Software Architects, Product Marketing Managers, Program Managers, Senior UNIX Administrator, Patent Attorney/Agent, and a Senior Accountant. Looks like either they are replacing people that left the company or that things will be picking us and they need people NOW. Time will tell, but it is a big nice looking add to say the least. Add states that S3 is looking for people to "focus their energy and abilities on creating the world's best multimedia and integration products" Anyway I doubt if there are any lay offs as stated in earlier posts.

Stockroach: I'll try to answer the issues you raised the best I can. <The 2 OEMs that you refer to, are they add in board wins or are they motherboard wins? Also are they tier one computer companies or are they major motherboard suppliers? > The information I have received indicates they are motherboard win at both a top tier computer co & a motherboard supplier. I was not aware of todays design that was an added bonus. <When start shipments, Q2?> I don't know But I would assume so, if not late first Q1. <do you know that they will be volume runners> I have no idea. <or is a particular SKU that they have and may not generate alot of volume.> Again, I have no idea, however, it was mentioned it would have a "direct effect on both top and bottom line". What ever you would interpret that to mean.
