I am not qualified to answer your question. My understanding is however that these "imbalances" the MM's take care of don't go above more than 1-2% in any direction
You get "300 buyers lining up in the morning" as you put it, they drive the bid price up until the draw the sellers out of the woodwork. this is precisely why I cannot accept this much quoted statement "It was a slow day, there were no sellers"
