I had the same thought, but now that you mentioned Ingrams, the reason just occured to me. Ingrams will be in direct competition with Amazon. Whose order should they fill first, B&N's or Amazon's? Amazon knows this and realizes that to meet customer demand, they will have to stock inventory, or risk a delay (and lost sales). People will pay Amazon more $$ for a book, but will they also wait longer for delivery?
