I am not a day trader, If asked what I do, I reply "I am a position
trader". When Etrade was in the 18 to 25 area , I felt it was a
good position with the risk side very little since it hit a low in
Oct of 11 or so. The upside looked very good and it has been. I
dont like to stay when everybody and his brother starts telling the
world it cant miss going to the moon. You have to ask yourself, how
much of the earnings news was pretty well known before this run
started. I dont feel the news will add anything and may even motivate positions to liquidate for greener fields. The ISPs had
their day two years ago and now the ATTs and the Pac Bells are saying
thank you and moving in on their customers. The same thing will
happen with AMZN when Barnes & Noble -Bertlesman get rolling along
with Borders.com and many others, in other words the novelty is
wearing off and Walmart will no doubt enter full bore real soon.
These well established firms are not going to sit idly by even though
they should have moved sooner, they still know how to compete.
As for Etrade, with a a "Marketcrap" equal to A.G. Edwards, do you
think the biggies are going sit by and do nothing...Merrill is already
getting ready big time and they will all make a strong competitive
move very soon. I still look for a shakeout before I want to play.
I like other plays like CYCH and TSCN and maybe we will see CIEN
start back up,I think we will see them move shortly...gil
