My guess is that Asensio wanted to wait until January to start covering his successful shorts (and put off the taxes for a year) - and then go on to other battles. However, too many others may be buying while he is trying to cover, so the stocks are moving up too fast. The latest shots (e.g., on ABTE) may represent an attempt to slow these stocks' recovery. He did state in that interview that he made a mistake not covering ABTE on the dip down to $2.
