If you are talking about companies like ASND and CSCO etc., I agree, but I also believe that three other classes of companies will be big winners:

1. Portals -- companies like AOL and YHOO. These companies are analogous to physical malls, and receive revenues from advertising and from sales made by participating stores.

2. Financial services and brokerage houses.

3. Companies like DELL.

I do not think (sorry Barron's -- I disagree with you here) that the shipping companies will benefit, because the e-commerce promises a decrease in shipping dollars for the reasons the Michelle pointed out.

Completely agreed. Those I believe may be classified into 3 major categories:

1. network related, like CSCO and LU
2. hardware (server and storage) related, like EMC, SUNW and hopefully in future, DELL
3. software related, like ORCL

I plan on investing in all.
