As i can see from your PM there is a lot of people who don't know what IRC is , my mistake that i didn't explain it in the firts time , sorry : IRC stays for "Internet Relay Chat" ... once when a channel ( some call it chat room .. AOL ,MS etc. ) is established and maintained then anybody who visits this channel can talk/listen to the channel traffic in the real time (less a few sec. of lag) there is 000's channels out there with a very wide spectrum of interest -- from the worst "XXX porno" to very specific channels such as health problems , technical stuff and anything in between. plus of IRC ... you can join the channel just to ask some specific question and once you press enter with your question it is instantly displayed on screens of all people who are currently on that channel , you have some idea or concerns type it, enter and there it goes or you can stays for longer just to chat .. choice is yours minus of IRC ... higher exposure to computer viruses and the virus scan soft ware is a must , the virus danger is very low if you stays in channels where you know other people ,if you don't download ANYTHING from people you don't know ,or from sites you don't know and if you have all last safety patches against back doors for a client which you use. the danger rapidly increases if you go to "warez" sites -- sites which are full of hackers and crackers and are trading hacks and cracks on every program you can imagine , or if you start visiting "XXX rated channels" where is a danger from people who are against such sites and time to time put for download a picture or link which has a virus in it . bottom line ... to get a virus if you visits any site (channel)and DON"T download from there ,you have updated virus scan program is most like it the same as to get virus from an e-mail spam ... i personally do IRC for about 5 years and was infected .. 8-)) once only , and it wasn't from the net but from a floppy which my son brought home from his friend .. 8-)) my intention about the new channel for SI or better for people from can.daytrading in real time ,can.daytrading , momentum trading is to make a channel which is private ( participant has to enter one common password to be able to join ) to avoid as many dishonest people as can be same as "wannabe" hackers and other kind of people who join just to make problems. there is everything what i could remember to put in , but if i didn't cover it all or you have any more questions please PM me and i will do my best to find the answer for you, as well fell free to ad to this post any comment of your choice or to bring out your opinion for IRC regards .. tlb
