Over the last few months internet stocks are hot. Hopefully functional foods/probiotics will be the next wave. Believe me, it's coming. Especially with the baby boomers generation wanting to prolong it's lifespan (got to spend all the money made in the market) and utilize preventative means to help prevent sickness before getting to that point and having to treat it.

The following link puts us in very impressive company. After you read it see my listing of each company mentioned and it's market cap.

hnbreakthroughs.com

RJR Nabisco ------------ $ 9.7 B
Abbott Labs ------------ $ 72.3 B
Kelloggs ----------------- $ 15.2 B
Quaker Oats ------------ $ 8.3 B
Campbells Soup ------- $ 23.2 B
Johnson&Johnson --- $ 111.9 B
Lifeway Foods --------- $ 14.7 M
Galagen ------------------ $ 18.8 M
Merck --------------------- $ 183.2 B

Which companies will be poised for the greatest stock price appreciation when this country gets educated on this upcoming probiotic revolution?

We've been under the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), which specifies requirements for nutrient content claims, health claims and statements of nutritional support for dietary supplements. Basics Plus conforms to this act. Now check this out from the article in case you breezed by it:

"That FDA must preapprove such diet/disease relationships has been a major criticism of the health claims process.10 However, this is likely to change significantly with the recent passage of the FDA Modernization Act of 1997.11 This legislation allows health claims without FDA preapproval if such claims constitute statements made by authoritative government bodies such as the Centers for Disease Control, the National Academy of Sciences or the National Institutes of Health. It will be interesting to see which company is first to take this route."

Maybe the new collaboration or possible GGEN/LWAY products the CEO is to announce will conform to this new act. Kefir probiotics have increasingly been studied and cow's colostrum has been around for longer than kefir. Remember GGEN is in modified clinical trials also. I'm hoping with a LWAY product that will be recognized by these agencies and can specify health claims.

I felt pretty good after reading that article knowing this probiotic thing will come but I'll admit here I'm a little dissatisfied with Lifeway's product quality lately and personnel relations. I have been purchasing on average 10 bottles a week for myself and friends at work for a year now. I'm a connoisseur when it comes to the strawberry flavor and quite frankly I can't drink it anymore because of it's lack of strawberry flavor. This began in early Nov. when I purchased the Nov25 batch. I e-mailed LWAY to see what the problem was and never got a return message. I tried again a few weeks later thinking it was a one shot lull in quality control but it was just as bad. Another e-mail addressed to Mr.Smolyansky or to anyone insisting I get a reply was again disregarded. I tried cherry a few weeks ago and it wasn't the same either. Lack of flavor, in fact a heavy cultured milk flavor. Not good, so I haven't purchased the product in weeks. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. CEO told me once that cows put out different tasting milk depending upon the grass/feed at certain times of the year. If this is the case then taste sampling of batches should be conducted and increase the proper additive (juice concentrate and/or sweetners) to continue putting out a delicious product. If a new customer tries this product in it's current condition I don't think they'll be coming back unless they like that kind of taste.

Awaiting news.
Steve
