The likely scenario is that no matter good or bad earnings it will sell off, that is sell on bad news and good news.

I agree. That's the way previous corrections have been. At the top, it doesn't seem likely that it's possible to make money on the downside, (bears capitulating). I even wonder myself, because the market is seems soooo strong and frothy. But we all know that the irrational good time sentiment changes, and like you said at the bottom even the bears are frightened at the downside irrational selling.
