4 in a growing sector: EGGS, MICA TWTR.. ITN all have good prospects going forward. EGGS was one of my favorites according to the report on internet stocks I researched.. In January 1998, EGGS announced that it would radically change its business strategy for selling computer hardware and software. Egghead.com is now one of the leading on-line resellers of personal computer (PC) hardware, software, peripherals and accessories to consumers and businesses. It sells a broad selection of PC hardware and software products, as well as other consumer merchandise, through three Internet websites (the Egghead.com site, products are generally shipped to customers the same the Surplusdirect.com site, and the Surplusauction.com day orders are placed. site) . Still my favorite in this sector At the time I wrote the report I liked ITN which I still like. MICA broke resistance at 16 3/4 and is on a nice uptrend, although its fundamentals are still unclear. ITN is not far away from its own high of 7 5/8..prospects look good for this one and is supposed to have its first postive quarter. TWTR has an excellent chart.. and is in a strong uptrend 1/07/99 - Tweeter Home Entertainment Group Reports Sales For Its First Fiscal Quarter Ending December 31, 1998 CANTON, MASS. (Jan. 7) BUSINESS WIRE -Jan. 7, 1999--Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:TWTR) announced sales results for the quarter ending December 31, 1999. Total revenue increased 16.3% to $86.8 million from $74.6 million in the same period last year. Comparable store sales increased 10.6%, comprised of an 11.9% increase at Tweeter stores, a 23.9% increase at Bryn Mawr stores and no change in comparable store sales at HiFi Buys. Jeffrey Stone, President and Chief Operating Officer, said, "Our first quarter sales performance was fueled by new technology products. DVD represented 6% of our business for the quarter (7% for December), and digital camcorders really helped our average ticket and profitability in that category. In addition, the consumer's response to digital television has been very strong. We sold hundreds of sets during the holiday selling season at high price points and strong margins. As a result our big screen business continues to be very strong." The Company opened its 53rd store in Birmingham, Alabama on November 20, 1998. Operating under the HiFi Buys name, the 18,000 square foot facility includes a 3 bay mobile installation center with complete custom fabrication capabilities as well as extra warehousing space to accommodate home delivery of television products for this and future Birmingham locations. Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, Inc. is a specialty retailer of mid to high-end audio and video consumer electronics products.
