John, all:
I think our main Y2K problems will be fear & overreaction. The fact The American governments will even consider martial law(or the same thing by a different name) proves the overreaction. The gun & gold eagle sales prove the fear.

How many pizza's can be delivered under martial law? Could this wipe out our consumer economy?

John,

The major problems with Y2K are feared by most to be present in Europe and Asia (Japan, primarily). They have done far less according to reports and my personal sources. Russia has done basically nothing.

Of course, the US, Asia, and Europe are the 3 regions most susceptible due to our dependence on IT systems, but other countries will be impacted, directly or indirectly.

Y2K is one of the elements I'm somewhat counting on to deter a capital flight from the US dollar. Europe apparently has spent so much time preparing for the Euro conversion, Y2K has taken the back-burner.

But even in Y2K, the embedded systems issue seems the most mysterious and difficult area to grasp.

Regards,

Ron
