Damn it. Intel DIDN't make the list. I thought Intel was making Mercedes and Rolex. I guess people in 1999 PREFER Casio and Toyota.

Seems to me that raising the voltages is both good and bad news for AMD...
The good news is that is allows these chips to get to market.
The bad news is that is marks the end of the line for AMDs .25u process. Up 'till now they could yield higher speed grades without raising voltage. Now they have run out of speed grades.
Same thing happened when they went from 200 to 233Mhz on the .35u K6.
They had to jack the voltage from 2.9 to 3.2. At least this time they
only are jacking it .1 volts which means they possibly can get to 500MHz at 2.4v as you suggested without reaching the recommended limit of 2.5v.
Intel, on the other hand, can yield a fair amount of chips at 450MHz and not have to jack up the voltage (2.0v). I'd say Intels process technology is still slightly better than AMDs based on the lower voltage and the ability to yield well at 450Mhz w/o jacking up the voltage.
Of course all this will mean little because the consumer doesn't know voltages, only that MHz sells (TM Jim McMannis). 433 and 450MHz will look pretty darn good on the header cards at CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City , etc.
Looks like the 450MHz K6-2 is about to be announced, secound or third week of January.
