I just joined net2phone and these are my observations:

1) It takes a while to talk to a customer rep, although you eventuallly get one and they are courteous and informative.

2) I called Brazil and talked to my brother. The quality was very good. When I told him about the $0.34 per minute rate I was paying he became very enthusiastic.

3) It turns out that if he were originating the call the cost would be onlye $0.10 per minute (I only learned this later). I also checked with net2phone, anyone anywhere in the world can join, as long of course as they have a credit card or some other way to pay and they have access to the internet.

4) Since per minute charges for calls to other countries, from Brazil and other developing countries, are astronomical, there will be a huge market in these countries. The percentage discount they obtain is much larger. For example, I pay about $0.70 per minute to call Brazil from the U.S., and net2phone cuts it to $0.34 per minute, approximately a 50% discount. My brother pays more than $1.00 per minute to call the U.S., and net2phone would charge him only $0.10, more than 90% discount. From his point of view this is practically free. Even local calls in Brazil pay per minute charges! Also, since people in less developed countries have tighter budgets, they will be keen to take advantage of the opportunity.

I am very positive on this company and will investigate it on First Call and Bloomberg. I might become a shareholder.
