Hi penni - >>>>>Were you a litigator?<<<<< I still am. I am going back to work tomorrow. I have been sort of on vacation or sabbatical or something while fighting this rheumatoid arthritis thing. Dr. Merkin switched antibiotics from doxycycline to minocycline last week, and I feel much, much better. I am just taking a break from cleaning my room, I have so much junk and dirt accumulated over the past 4 plus months that it is taking days to get it all out of here. I decided I don't need to keep all the Forbes, Investors Business Dailys, Fortunes, etc. etc. etc. That has freed a lot of shelf space, so I have been able to get other things off the floors. After I finish vacuuming the floors, I will do my taxes. >>>>>This was one of the most frustrating things to Dan-he LOVED the courtroom, but in civil litigation you so often don't get there. He would spend weeks preparing---be at hte office twenty four hours a day the week before, get all ready--and then the morning of the trial there would be a settlement and all that work was nothing but a game of chicken.<<<<< Well, he may call it a game of chicken, but gearing up for trial is what it takes to come to a settlement, sometimes. I actually prefer the preparation part. Being in a trial is like being in a whirlwind, or being on a ship in a storm. It is a rush, but so scary, too. But I am a plaintiff lawyer, I represent injured people who can't afford to pay me, and I don't make a nickle unless I win. Plus, I wind up advancing my own money on costs, so if I lose, it's my money I lose. I have only lost one trial, it set me back $12,000. I only think it is fun if I win, so I like to settle, if I can. If I were getting paid by the hour, win, lose or draw, I would think it was fun to go to court, too. I have handled hourly cases, it's a thrill to rack up the bucks, sixteen hours a day at $150 an hour is nice money. >>>>>Between that and how he really didn't like a lot of the things he saw, he choose to leave.<<<<< What does he do now?
