Guru,

Still the correct longer term position.

Despite my recent comments, I still agree. But what is longer term? And what lies between here and there? Unless you have lots and lots of capital to cover your margin, shorting as an individual investor on these stocks while they are in the throes of Internut passion is suicide. I can see the stock below 200 in the future (a year? two years? five? Or two weeks?). But after watching Amazon and some of the others lately, I can see it hitting 600 or even 800 between here and there. That makes it very difficult to define a short entry (or reentry) point. (All numbers not split-adjusted, because in the long run splits don't matter.)

Don't get me wrong, I took a loss too. Some of it was last year which nicely offset some gains.

I only shorted three stocks last year, and they were my only three significant losers all year. They did offset some gains which I would otherwise have waited til this year to take. But all of us would rather have paid the taxes than lost the money.

I CRAVE shorting this pig right now. It is part of me. If you have this craving too, and can't seem to shake it, call 1 800 YAHOO SA. Yahoo Shorters Anonymous. "My name is Guru, and I am a short."

That was really funny. Maybe I should facilitate one of the support groups, for I have now successfully beaten back the craving. So successfully, in fact, that I plan to go long on the next dip.

Any suggested entry points from you longs out there? (Besides buy early and often -- I've already received and rejected that advice.)

MAD DOG

P.S. -- Did anyone else notice how the 100-plus point gain this week was accomplished on basically average volumes most days? Doesn't that suggest a lack of willing sellers rather than a stampede of new buyers? The media seems to always play these things as though everybody woke up every morning last week chanting "I must have my HOO's." But it seems to me that only the usual number of Internuts were buying; it's just that nobody was selling.

Ha, I love it. That was funny.

Good Luck
