Your point is well taken.

My only real answer is that I stronly believe the internet is the best medium for information exchange ever in history. The internet has a huge future not just a good future. It is my opinion that the internet will not be a big player in retail sales at a profit and that is the category in which AMZN is playing. I will state I am a very strong believer in business to business e-tailing. I would go into a lot of detail but suffice it to say that business to business is typically a large order or sale. Retail is typically a much smaller sale. That is where fulfillment becomes the problem. Large order fulfillment is much less costly that small order fulfillment.

I am not singling out AMZN as being "stupid." I do not see huge profits in retailing on the net. I do see profits in some categories.
I hope I make myself clear as to where I am coming from on this.

By the way, companys I have held long in this sector and some I still hold are:

CSCO, COMS, ASND, AOL, YHOO, AMZN (for a very brief time), PAIR, USRX (prior to being bought by COMS), NN, NT, FORE, TLAP, MSFT, DELL, APPL, SUNW, CIEN, etc.

My next play long is GCR which is an offshoot of this current growth due to the need for shipping boxes.

Yes, simple human nature; there were may be about a hundred others also before yhoo that he didn't miss that can be like msft (but not) and those no one talks about.
