Babysitting is the least desirable part of this trade, I know. An article in JLC spoke of this trade being the worst imaginable for kids coming out of high school. I suppose the work is just too physically demanding for an average wage. And hard workers with a strong sense of pride are difficult to find.

I used to be a job foreman in Marin County for a custom residential contractor. Then did a few smalll jobs there as a General (bags on with no employees) then decided to return to SLO county (central coast).
Nice sized jobs here, but not the same flow of money as around SF.

My new wife is also a good craftsman so we have partnered on jobs. We can't help but take work home with us as we also do design work.
