2 Strong Buys

Does anyone know what analysts are currently covering this stock? Yahoo shows that there are 2 recommendations and they are both strong buys.

Zeev, I also did a little research on DRIV.

Market cap. is $836.7 million (or more than 10X PROG's market cap.) on less than 1/10th the sales of PROG. Through 9 months, the company had lost $9 million on $11 million of sales. (Don't think Yahoo's market cap. has caught up with the new shares yet).

Actually, I think we should thank Andrew for bringing DRIV to our attention. It just illustrates the kind of valuations a company can expect if it becomes known as an internet stock.

Since DRIV's market cap. is> 10X PROG's on less than 1/10th the sales, PROG would have to increase its share price more than 100 X to be valued at a similar price to sales ratio as DRIV. Without even considering the fact that PROG is earning money and DRIV is burning money.

Ah, a breath of fresh air! Thank you Zeev, Larry and Tim for turning the discussion to the more pressing issues:

1) How does PROG shape up next to top competitors, namely: DRIV, BYND, EGGS, COOL (and maybe AMZN soon). BTW, I think PROG is most undervalued of the bunch.

2)What on earth would make them shut down the entire website for at least a weekend (or longer?). Granted they are 'upgrading', but people can't order online. It is an awfully strange thing to shut down something that generates substantial income for them in the mist of financial reporting and increased investor awareness. I will definitely call on Monday to find out what's up if it isn't up by morning.

Larry, after your "never heard of DRIV" comment, I assume you now are aware that DRIV has the largest inventory in the world for online downloadable software.

This is what Steve Harmon said recently in a comparison BYND to DRIV:
quote.yahoo.com

fnews.yahoo.com
Beyond.com (NASDAQ:BYND - news) . Its electronic software delivery (ESD) model looks like the future of software (and anything digitizable) etailing. Like Digital River (NASDAQ:DRIV - news) both of them have models which we believe are netcentric and poised to exploit the coming opportunities in software sales. We see software shifting from boxed, wrapped,
shipped via truck, to instant buying and downloading over the Internet. A forecast we did in 1994 predicted this but until bandwidth was "tolerable" to consumers to actually download--something it barely is today even--the ESD was more like LSD (likely science dreaming). Risks? if software developers sell direct. But we think coders may be more than happy to let Beyond.com handle selling. Added bonus, CEO was former VP marketing for Amazon (which could be a rival soon perhaps in software). But Beyond's focus appeals to us, along with its government contracts. And BYND revenue puts it ahead of Digital
River.

Here's another insightful post on future earnings projection for BYND

Presently, my feelings are that in terms of near term share appreciation the stocks in this sector rank as follows:
1) PROG
2) BYND
3) COOL
4) EGGS
5) AMZN
