I would not be surprised if AT&T wants Microsoft's help in fighting AOL. Microsoft gets to settle a lawsuit brought on by AT&T. AT&T gets to give a boost to their internet businesss and get comparable to AOL. Plus they will own cable --high speed internet access through TCI cable lines. Microsoft gets its NT platform some support.
Looks like there is a lot of potential here.

I am actually looking into buying AT&T stock but it had a big run up already in December.
