You store the names of all your friends and family and when you see them online, you chat. It is the new form of communication and is almost like talking on the phone. This is why I use AOL and have for the last 3 years. I have friends in other places whom I may never communicate with if I didn't have AOL, but who I have ongoing friendships with since we're online. I know of no other service who is so focused on bringing people together.
