Yeeesh, talk about an over-reaction! Martinet? Hardly. What you don't understand is that there are people who, for whatever reason, become bored with the topic at hand, or try to turn a stock forum into an online chat room/friendship club, or try to "get a real conversation going" on a matter only a few are concerned with. When this happens--and I've seen it many times--the thread becomes very cluttered with comments like "Hey, Barney, if you want trout, why don't you try Lake Mikasooo in the Fall....?" Rest assured, if no one complains, you can soon rename the stock thread, "Trout Fishing in Quebec: Name Your Favorite Spots." As far as people on the thread being warm, caring, and nurturing, many are, many are not, and many adopt personas very different than what you might surprisingly see in real life. You want to see a person's true character? Disagree with them on the prospects of their favorite stock. In many cases, you'll feel very fortunate that your online compadre isn't sitting in your living room, cradaling a shotgun. Try it some time when you really, truly think a stock's prospects are poor, and watch your former friends form an online lynching party, and accuse you of all sorts of terrible things. Cynical? Maybe a little. As to your last question: when the Braves care about me, I'll worry about them! Take care.
