Wi-LAN news release: Staff Reduction Wi-LAN Renews Focus On High-Speed Wireless Data Communications Following Restructuring CALGARY, ALBERTA-- Wi-LAN Inc. today announced the completion of a three-month restructuring plan to focus on providing Wireless Local Loop Networks and W-OFDM technology and products to the burgeoning data communications market. The restructuring efforts began in October 1998 with staff reduction and concluded today with the announcement of key staffing changes. The company has restructured as a natural progression of success in implementing its pioneering high-speed wireless technology in many large-scale wireless projects including the education networks in Medicine Hat and Bonnyville, as well as the recent adoption by Tele2 of a Wireless Local Loop system in the United Kingdom. Effective immediately, Aaron Dagan, Vice President OEM and Production, will become VP Business Development, focusing on creating new W-OFDM and Wireless Local Loop opportunities in the marketplace. Serge Brache, current Director of Production, will assume production responsibilities as Acting Vice President, Production. Wanda Posehn will handle the marketing portfolio as Acting Vice President, Marketing following Allen Poutanen's resignation as Vice President, Marketing.
