Ian, read the tables. Each of the "rolling averages"
column numbers are equal, to the third digit, to the latest
month. That's all. I noticed that in the compiled tables and they
haven't fixed it, yet.

Your original post (#7537) was of SIA data (chip sales), not SEMI data (equipment sales). This note (#7539) discusses the reporting of SEMI data. I can see why people are confused.

A rule of thumb might be helpful: Numbers in the range of $10 billion per month or $150 billion for the year are likely to be chips. Numbers in the range of $4-5 billion for the quarter (equipment is not reported monthly) or $20 billion for the year are likely to be equipment sales.

(The rule of thumb gets complicated, though, because some reports include all capex spending, not just equipment, and some include all SEMI members, including those selling process materials and consumables.)

SEMI is at semi.org
SIA is at semichips.org
