John, I wouldn't begin to try to tell anyone what they need in this field but after about 9 months of trying to learn what I can about just what you are looking for I have arrived at the following -

COMSTOCK SAT. DOWNLOAD, LIVEWIRE TA and CYBER CORP for a trading program.

It would appear that many of the "real" traders are using the Comstock/livewire setup and, IMHO. Cyber is heads and shoulders above the other trading programs out there in ease of learning and using.

They have their CyberT program that is for "beginners" as well.

As for computers - anywhere from 2 to 8 monitors are being used - - the bigger the better - - but one advantage to the LiveWire setup is that it runs under dos instead of windows so is cheaper to set up as far as needed equipment is concerned.

What with software, hooks up and computers, one could have pushing 10K into a setup without any problem.

The cheap route - CYBERT or CYBERTRADER for trading, they just introduced their PRICESERVER setup which makes an already fast system even faster. And the AIQ TA program through MYTRACK - no longer have to purchase the program - comes at a fee of 59.00/mo and is about the easiest TA to learn and use.

Please remember, all the above is worth just what you paid of it! :)
