Sensible Office Systems, Inc. (SOSINC) offers PBX, Routing Capabilities, to Sovereign Voice Over IP Gateway
Reduces need for added equipment and expense for small to medium sized businesses.
Sioux City, Iowa – January 4, 1999 – SOSINC, a leading provider of turnkey Voice Over I/P telephony solutions, announced the availability of routing and PBX functionality in its Sovereign™ V/IP telephony gateway. Robert Townsend, General Manager of SOSINC stated, " The addition of Routing and PBX functionality along with the Voice over IP in the same carrier class chassis, allows for a dramatic cost reduction in providing a complete turnkey solution for the small to medium sized business. These businesses no longer need to seek multiple vendors for Routers, PBX's and V/IP Gateways."
The Sovereign Bridge/Router capabilities provide an economical interconnectivity solution for system administrators managing Ethernet local area networks or those looking to establish a LAN. It provides transparent bridging and multiprotocol routing capabilities between two segments. The Sovereign also provides the capability to connect multiple networks that are geographically separated from one another, creating a wide area network.
Some of the many applications for our Sovereign Bridge/Router include:
Network Optimization: Heavily loaded networks can be split into two or more sub-networks. Each sub-network is then connected to the other with the Sovereign. By only forwarding those packets, which are destined for the opposite segment, network utilization is reduced, thus improving response time. Fault Isolation: The failure of a single Ethernet node can cause the entire network to fail. By dividing large networks into two or more smaller sub-networks, failures can be isolated to particular segments.
This results in improved overall network "up time".
Physical Network Extension: Ethernet standards limit the length of a single network segment. This length cannot be exceeded even if "repeaters" are used. However, by using our Sovereign, the "logical' network length can equal the sum of several "physical" network segments. Even geographically distant LANs can be connected creating two (or more) LANs interconnected by a WAN.
The Sovereign's PBX functionality's include:
