>>>>>So who is the REAL follower of Christ? ME- who sees the good in everyone regardless of religious belief, or THEM - when they believe that the only good people are people saved in Christ?<<<<<

The envelope please? The REAL follower of Christ is (drum roll) X!!!!

Sorry, X. I don't think you were expecting that. But it's true. Mother Theresa told me. (That wacky Mother Theresa! She is such a kidder!)

Hi X the Unknown,

Would you mind if I made a couple of comments?

You said: it's hard to get two agnostics together who can agree on anything because we are freethinkers-

Does that mean that since you ARE a "freethinker" you could not believe in Jesus the Christ or just that in your thinking you have rejected Him? (I asked that because I have never followed your conversation before)

I went because when people invite me to their church I try to go and give it a try.

Do you know WHY you "go and give it a try?"

But I know they would not love me if they knew what I really believe.

that is a sad but true commentary for a lot of Christians(even I sometimes fall in that pit) but some are really just scared to associate with unbelievers for various reasons, so don't put everyone in the same box.

he MUST be a Southern Baptist- so if he shows up for the Rapture and he ISN'T a Southern Baptist they won't go).

I am trying to picture that in my mind..:o)

I can accept that they need their rock, but they could never accept that I do NOT need it- or that I cannot believe in it. There is the problem in a nutshell. Religion has made a gulf between those who believe they know better for EVERYBODY else, and those who do not.

If you really can accept that the Rock is needed by Christians, then you must also be able to accept that as followers of Christ it is not in their makeup to let you alone to die.

The gulf you perceive is not put there by man but by God. Any Christian worth his/her salt would do most anything to keep you from one side of that gulf. And so do those that do not care get mad at those who do?

I will finish with the same sentence I posted earlier. Thanks for your time.

Do you know WHY you "go and give it a try?"

dan

X,
You have to stop blaming God for the errors of us humans. Your aunt disowning her daughter is not God's choice but her mistake. If she understood God she would not react so harshly. I have noticed that often the ones who have no religious views do have more compassion than some christians. They at times get all mixed up in trying to do the "right thing". In that respect you would be a benefit to them when you convert to christianity by bringing some common sense with you. I was excommunicated from a church once. It was a joke and they later apologized and admitted they were wrong and went to extremes.

As far as cults go, a cult is a church or religious organization which preaches "a different Jesus" as defined by Paul the Apostle. A cult is defined differently by others but that is the Christian view. The Unitarian Church is a cult by Paul's standards and mine. That doesn't make those that attend bad people, just mistaken and deceived.
