"You have committed a faux pas in my eyes by posting my private message to you in a public forum."

I understand fully where you are coming from Ron. I honour the PM that others have sent me, many agreeing privately only to be flamed in public. That's why I no longer accept them.

Let's get back to my original point - as a comparison to an earlier time,
we have almost, NO manufacturing. The impact of this(proposed) martial law on our service economy might well be far harder than were
our economy more broadly based.

If we have thousands of people all going commuting to & from a fewer places of business at 1-2 or 3 times of day(shift changes) then it would be easy for the National Guard to patrol movement. In the world of today, most of our US population to not have only a few shift start and stop times. As before the business of our nation was manufacturing, mining, and farming, we are now a nation dedicated to sales and service.

Even 5 years ago, when our economy in the Denver area was (slightly) more manufacturing based the main road nearest my home was very busy for only 4-5 hours a day. Those hours were easily tied to shift change times. We(as the rest of the nation) now have a less
"standard shift change" based society. This main road (as many across the nation) is under moderate use during 18 hours of the day.
As our GDP is now based on the service economy which does not have a standard shift start and end time and place for thousands, there would be a deeper economic harm under any martial law.

If this country is not buying from and selling to own the economy will die.

This is not about my personal distaste (or fear) of martial law, or even
the right or wrong of it. This is about the harm which would be done to the broad(service) economy under martial law.

<<But if its chaos you're looking for, I dare you to take a shot at a fellow American who also happens to be a highly armed soldier in a martial law circumstance. You'll find little sympathy from me.<<

What about them shooting at us? Would you support that?

<<Having been intimately involved in certain aspects of the Oklahoma City Bombing from the military side, I have a certain sensitivity on the subject of threatening US soldiers.<<

Did you set up the barometric bombs inside the building, or just help out with the Ryder truck rental?
