LU may acquire ASND as early as Wednesday:

biz.yahoo.com

Any thoughts on how this might impact dbcc/mktw? Won't the traders leave us for the bigger opportunity (167.5B combined cap)?

DBCC has some wild cards that shorters and momentum players aren't accounting for...

IMO the IPO was delayed for two reasons.

1). The internet IPO markets were perceived to remain favorable through January

2). The IPO closer to the release of DBC's quarterly financial statements. So share holders get double impact on price of DBCC shares first from IPO and second from favorable statement.

--------------

A little history:

sec.gov

DBC was incorporated in Delaware in 1992

On June 30, 1995, the Company completed its acquisition of Broadcast
International, Inc. ("BII"), comprising its BMI, ISN and CRI operating units. The merger of DBC and BII has significantly expanded the Company's market position as a leading provider of wireless financial, sports and other information services

In 1996 DBC developed MarketWatchas one of its products.

sec.gov

In 1994, 1995, 1996 DBC had positive earnings per share of 0.20, 0.67, & 0.27 respectively

In 1996, company derived little or no profit from MarketWatch ownership.

Company developed MarketWatch and other Internet services in an effort
broaden its subscriber base with less expensive but valuable services. and to ward off obsolescence of the Company's services due to the introduction of new technologies.

Now that DBC has bit the proverbial bullet to become an "Internet Centric" company, my sources suggest that DBC's 4 quarter 10 Q will show that DBC has indeed turned the corner and is again increasing its earnings.

DBC, a profitable "LEADER"...how many other "leaders" in the internet sector can make such a claim?

The other leader that can Yahoo releases earning 1/12/98. Yahoo's numbers will impact DBC and other internet favorably if better than expected. This is another "wild card".

In the next two posts some information about the Directors of DBC who had the foresight and vision to re-orient DBC into a leading Internet service provider of real time financial and sports data...

These guys aren't light weights.
