Actually, I'm willing to bet most people on the net do NOT have 2 phone lines right now. My parents don't. My parents' friends don't (with a few exceptions). Most of my friends (who are non-tech-oriented) don't. So the $5-10 more is actually more like $20-$30. And that's significant, if we're talking about getting the unwashed masses wired up to ATHM at a reasonable price. Especially if the bulk of their use is still going to be email & casual surfing (at this juncture in time). The demand for ATHM *right now* resides among the junkies (like me).

Somebody mentioned integrated messaging (email/voice/video/fax). Now THAT's a killer app that would appeal to everyone. But is it here yet?

Apple sold half a million iMacs to mostly (they claim) first-time computer buyers. A paradigm along those same lines (ease of use, all-in-one internet solution, and an appeal to first-timers) will have to be at work for ATHM and others before we can start expecting this valuation to be reasonable. But then again, we're valuing today based on the future, right?
