If you look into those local computer magazines, do you notice that
WDC constitutes a lion share of the consumer HDs that local companies sell? This seem to be the case here (San Diego). The
rank among HD makers based based on ads seems to be WDC, Maxtor, Seagate, IBM, and very little Quantum. This is quite different from about a year ago, when I was shopping for a new computer. The
rank at that time was more like WDC and Qntm on the top, then
Maxtor and Seagate.
