Ludwig,

-Are there any "reliable" Onlinebroker(Datek?) out there?

I have used Datek and found them pretty reliable, although you always hear horror stories with any broker. They are leaps and bounds above any of the Canadian brokers, with the exception of Priority Brokerage maybe. I would check out the Datek thread here on SI for more info: Subject 5957

-How difficult is it to open an account as a Canadian Resident?

No problem. Just make sure you fill out a W8 form which declares you are a foreigner.

-Do I need any special forms from Revenue Canada?

Nope. Just declare the income (or loss!) as you would normally on your yearly income tax return.

-Any experience in order execution?

I found them to be relatively quick, especially with NASDAQ issues. NYSE and AMEX are a little slower, but still done under 60 seconds or the trade is free. Check the above thread for others opinions.

As for the IBD 70/70 list I don't know how yo would do it. I have tried to assemble something like this in the past but found it was too hard to track down timely and reliable fundamental data.

The TSE Review magazine does have a list of interlisted (US and CDN) stocks. It is published monthly and is full of info. It is a little pricey though at about 13.00 an issue. You can get it at most Litchmans or Great Canadian News.

Let me know how you do...

Optim
