"Substantive debate" was K's long-ago admonition to me, I've only used the term ironically. It's all politics, and given the way the game is played these days, gross out language is as appropriate as anything. Of course, Bill Vaughn would tell you that truly tasteless humor is only appropriate when SNL directs it at that other Bill, in which case it is indicative of popular sentiment, but you'll have to take that one up with old PPP.
