sorry, but you overlooked something here: Such guys earn 100k+ and up - per month! Fred Chan gets a heart attack when people expect 10% of that in (valuable?) compensation...

Fong's appointment is a "Chinese Connection" and as I said before these are cryptic issues to me. Since ESST is so much tied to Asian Markets and Mr. Fong is a high profile Asian American it seems to blend in fine on face value. If he can network and expand ESST's markets - hey why not - seems like a good business decision to me - if he can pull a bunch of votes in California as a Senate Candidate - he must be a popular guy with the affluent Asians! With the upcoming Chip/Semi cycle upturn by the middle of 1999, Hambrecht & Quist giving ESST a "Buy", I think ESST is looking mighty good to hit the teens soon!
