The dollar rallies a bit on BOJ, and gold gives up yesterdays gains. Shows how thin the momentum in gold really is.

How right you are about the fundamentals and its reflection in the price of gold. Momentum is not even a good word to describe it. Whim is more like it and until the whim to drive valuations in the overall markets up is undermined, gold will remain in a state of homestasis moving up and around the minimum price required to maintain a respectable level of world production.
