Red, Thanks for your information regarding shorting against the box. Tell me if I'm wrong in my interpretation of what you wrote, but I think I have a reason to s-a-b. I have a large capital gain in CSCO. Looonnnnnggg term.. over 2 years. I short against the box right now, protecting against a fall. If it does, great, I close the the short and hold for anything greater than four months. Thereby, I am deferring my gains by not having to sell to protect against a drop. Right? Richard
