I wonder if CB's are buying to cover those cash payments they probably took when hedge funds were forced to cover their short positions.

Cash settlements on gold lease contracts would still leave a requirement for the CB's to buy that gold back, wouldn't it??

One would think that they would be to exert far more leverage in maintaining a lid on the market since they essentially owe the tab to themselves.
